“Underwater” Review

A fun and harmless deep sea sci fi romp. Some entertaining thrills aside, “Underwater” struggles with a clear visual telling of what actions are actually happening because of the dark sea setting. That setting is obviously key to the film and makes for some effective tension, but obscures much, aided little by cinematography, editing, or CGI outside of a true theater experience.

“Underwater” delivers on visual thrill and suspense, but doesn’t try anything particularly innovative in writing, dialogue, or plot. A competent showing of Kristen Stewart, but ultimately a forgettable film.

6.5/10
